For Mermaids & Dreamers
What did you dream of being when you were little? An astronaut, a doctor, maybe even... a mermaid? When it comes to being bold & owning it, we're totally fearless as kids. But who said that has to change when we grow up? Living under the sea is not required in order to make a splash. We are a haven for mermaids and dreamers. Ali & Ariel represents the free spirit of women who celebrate sisterhood and the magic of everyday moments, with the courage to be who they dream of being.
Our mission at Ali & Ariel is to inspire in young people the bravery and creativity it takes to be themselves.
A dream come true
Now a brand known throughout North America, the idea for Ali & Ariel started before Ali graduated college. Ali was the recruitment chair for her sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta, at Arizona State University. Making shirts for all 200+ of her sisters was part of her job, as was making sure everyone felt beautiful and confident in their outfits. At the time, fraternity clothes were everywhere, but very little was being made specifically for women. Cute and stylish items were even harder to find. Ali was even more surprised to find a serious lack of women owned businesses making sorority clothes. Ali loved both fashion and wearing her letters, and she knew she wasn't alone.
Shortly after graduating from ASU in 2008, Ali started her first business making sorority apparel. The first collection was for pre-designed back to school items. At the time, most sororities were only ordering clothes for events, like bid day. Having cute sorority clothes "for fun" wasn't the norm. It wasn't long before chapters caught on to the trend, getting clothes for events and for fun. After all, wearing your letters with pride (and style!) is a year round activity.
Trends come and go, but Ali & Ariel's purpose remains. It's about way more than just t-shirts. Ali says, "we want you to feel confident in your clothes, and in expressing your creativity. From styling ideas to the way a shirt fits, we're bringing your vision to life. This is about empowerment. It's about you. We have the opportunity of delivering happiness throughout the process."
